Buying a Shinai. You can't practice kendo without a shinai but having one will not be required for the first couple of weeks when beginning. Shinai can be purchased at any point through the club (~$50ea.), from local martial arts supply stores or on-line from many dealers such as in our list below. Remember when purchasing that men use size 39, women use size 38 and people under the age of 16 use size 37.
